About

Suburban Tool Company was founded in 1969 by Byne Edgar “Ed” Madden when he moved to Cookeville, TN after leaving a job at Chrysler in Detroit.  Ed ran the business from 1969 until his death in 1992.  During that time, the shop specialized in precision replacement parts for local factories as well as running aerospace packages and even a space shuttle package.  All of these parts were ran on conventional machines.  He instilled a focus on quality work in all of his employees and his children throughout his time running the shop.  This focus on quality continues to this day.

After Ed’s death in 1992 his oldest son, Randy, decided to keep the business running, and continues to run it to this day.  A few years later, the business was expanded into the ever growing CNC world with the purchase of state of the art machines including a CNC lathe and EDM.  These machines were used for both the precision replacement tooling that Suburban Tool has always specialized in as well as small run production parts for multiple industries.  Since then, multiple multi-tasking machines with live tooling and 4 axis capabilities as well as CNC mills have been added to the equipment list.

Suburban is in the process of transitioning into its third generation with Randy’s son, Tyler Madden, taking a managerial position inside the company.  Suburban still focuses on quality parts and competitive pricing by keeping the equipment running smoothly and purchasing robust and rigid machinery that will maintain the original precision of the machinery for many years.  The experience of the machinists at Suburban is very diverse and you can rest assured that we have the know how to complete your project from precision replacement tooling, to production parts to design and build fixtures and special machinery.  We stand ready to meet your machining needs with precision and professionalism.
